Robert Evans Cox Jr., age 56, of Sturgis, MI passed away Monday, March 30, 2015 at the South Bend Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 20, 1958 in Jackson, MI a son to Robert E. and Dottie (McDonald) Cox Sr.
Bob had been a resident of Sturgis for the past 26 years and had resided in Coldwater, Jackson, and the Hillsdale area previously.
On April 10, 1992 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis, MI he married Gail Simmons.
He was a Journeyman Millwright by trade and had enjoyed his time working for Industrial Insulation Inc. and I.C.M. Bob retired in Dec. 2013 and started Robert Cox Consulting Inc.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served as a Deacon. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting for mushrooms and arrowheads, camping, golf, kayaking, and biking to name a few. He was also very interested in antiques and was very handy.
Surviving are his wife: Gail; children: Matthew (Renee) Cox of Anchorage, Alaska, Ben Stock of Muskegon, MI, Mike (Rebekah) Cox of Henderson, TN, William Stock of Three Rivers, MI, Jessica (Adam) Cuellar of Union City, MI, and Ashlyn Cox of Sturgis, MI; grandchildren: Joe and Clara Stock, Ellie Cuellar, Janella and Chante Cox, and a grandchild to be expected in July; 2 brothers: Randy Cox of Holyoke, Mass. And Ryan (Kelly) Cox of Stamford, Ct. 1 sister: Renee (Greg) Fitzgerald of Derry, Hew Hampshire; Parents: Robert and Dottie Cox of Brookfield, Mass.; Paternal grandmother: Dorothy Cox of Battle Creek, MI; 6 nieces, 2 nephews, 3 great-nieces, and 1 great-nephew.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Olaf and Helen Westerguard and paternal grandfather: Willie Cox.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 2:00 – 4:00 & 6:00 – 8:00 P.M., Friday, at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091.
A Memorial service celebrating the life of Robert E. Cox Jr. will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis with the Rev. Russell Peterson, offficating.
Memorial donations may be directed to the Brain or the American Society of Hypertension, envelopes are available at the funeral home.
